June 6, 1922 - Tuesday

Went over to see if Mrs. E. had arrived & learned
from Mrs. Mix that she got in yes. Mr. Latta was
there, & I met a Mrs. Roberts. Went to the house
of the 3 [?], to find G. having a lesson on the
front porch, & M. at her desk; B. of course was
in Com. meeting. Went out to Mrs. McG's where
I arrived just at break. time - we had a good
one - & then I had to take out the knitting I had
begun while waiting for the train, & enlarge
as she didn't think big enough, after awhile
we went up stairs & she began some sleeping
socks for the C. twins; after looking at her 2
kodak albums; principally pictures of the
children & grandchildren, and talking, we
both took baths + then went over to Mrs. Craig's
for tea; presently Peggy came in, then Mr. C.,
who then went out to play golf; and finally
a young couple to call; they didn't tarry long
& Mr. C. returned before they left as it began to
rain. I remained for the 6:50 train, & then
came near getting left, catching the last
coach as the train was pulling out; got off
at the next station & ran up a few cars,
but had to hop on another 3rd class carriage
in short order; [went?] there the same per-
formance [performance] at the next station; this time
I fortunately got to the "ladies only" which I
had all to myself, so there I reamined. The

trains are not crowded at at that house
else I might have fared badly - not a sign
of a ticket did I
have!

June 7, 1922 - Wednesday

Went to town this a.m. stopping first
at DeSouza's, took a rickshaw to the press, where I saw
Mr. Roach; then went to the bank but as it was not yet
open had about half an hr. to kill. Went into the Chi-
nese [Chinese] shop near by & bought a pr. of blue [?] strips
to send to Cousin J; this took about all my cash, so then
to the press again to replenish - drew R 50. Thence to
the newer Chinese shop on Merchant street where
I bought one broad strip & had a chat with the owner.
Then to the Burmese industries for a look around
only; returning to the Bank of India for Miss C's sala-
ry [salary] check I met first Mr. Duncan, who is working
for the Irrawady Flotilla Co., thru the kindness of
Mr. McCreathe; & then Mr. Fisher, the tobacco man. x
came back by the Guest House & Mr. Wiatt's to see Mrs.
E. about where to leave, & then phoned Mr. Phinney about
tickets for the Fri. eve. Pd. B. the money for last mo's lang-
uage [language] school. Trimmed & sorted quilts again all aft.
Miss N. out for tea & dinner. About 5:30 Miss C. & I went
to "[teedon?]," the other side of Innis Rd. & beyond [Keenia] -
[dine?] [Keeniadine?] Rd.; didn't see an umbrellas to buy tho we saw
abundant evidence of the making of them. Return-
ed [Returned] on Short St., & went to see Mrs. [Minus?], who was not
at home; then walked down this lane beside the
house. At the dinner table decided to go to the last prom-
onade [promonade] concert at Jubille Hall; dressed in a hurry, sent
Mably for a gharry - he returned with a [landon?],
but fortunately it did not rain & was a lovely moon-
light [moonlight] night; enjoyed the music, & seeing & being seen
by the pepople; think every one was there - except Mrs.
Grove & Dr. Osborne; neither did I see any of the missionaries
