June 22, 1922 – Thursday
Same old seven & six so far work goes; my time
was with the school clock, Miss P's 15 min. faster
so she went over to Bible class this p.m. that much
earlier than I – I held on to my girls, however, as I
felt I'd hardly begun the lesson when she dismis-
sed [dismissed] hers. After a hurried tea we went to town on
the train, visiting the Mission Press branch near
the P.U., & Rowe's, Watson's & Whiteaway's; forgot to
ask about boxes – so agravating [aggravating]; then next to
the bazaars to buy S. a big spoon, fork, & enam-
eled [enameled] stewpan for kitchen use. We had taken
a gharry for a part of the journey, which we
now dismissed. Miss P. got a wick for her oil
stove, & looked for a broom, but saw the car
coming, so left that purchase for a more con--
venient [convenient] season. After returning did not feel
like working, so read a part of my last Nat'l Geog
& a Y.C.; have also read my 3 last I.J's this last
day or so; you get mentally hungry when you
have had to go without doing so for days, as has
been my case. Three mosquitoes were feasting
on me last night under my net till I arose in
my wrath & hunted them down one by one about
1 a.m. There are holes in the bar I'm using unfor-
tunately [unfortunately]; suppose that is where they got in. Ma
Thin Myine told me that the jailor's daughter had
not been to school all week, so if she is ill that
may account for the fact that the father hasn't
been here to see about my furniture; wish the
order was in at least, as it takes so long to get

things made out here.

June 23, 1922 – Friday
Current Event in chapel this a.m. I had sent my
little C.E. over for the teacher who had this duty
this wk., & then she came over herself to see if I had
anything else, so I gave her a Y.C. I'd just finished.
The school now numbers over 200, so we had a
half holiday this p.m.; when we reach 225 we'll
have a whole holiday as that will be more than
have ever been here before. After break I lay down
for awhile thinging [thinking] I might have a nap, as I was
late going to bed, but not feeling especially sleepy
finished the Geog., & was reading the Gazette when
Ma T.M. & another teacher came; after entertain-
ing [entertaining] them for awhile, they said they had come to
help me, so I led them to the piles of books & music
to be dusted where we worked for more than an
hour, then Miss P. came & said we must go calling
so I first had a bath & dressed, the others leaving
during the process; then went down for tea to find
that Miss S.-M. had arrived on her bicycle, so only
ate a banana, tho I had to throw away 3 in the process.
She remained an hour, Mrs. E. being late getting down,
& then we 2 went to Griegs to call. while the other two
went to see a girl about being a nurse at the children's
hospital. When they returned we all chatted for a-
while [awhile] & then Miss S.-M. had to go as it was getting
dark. Mr. G. had showed me over the lower part
of the house & yard in the meantime. Miss P. got
out at the ch; I found an I.J. awaiting me, so sat
down in the office to read till dinner time. Ma T.M.
had told me she wouldn't be here tomorrow a.m. so I
intend to sleep late in the morning. Did not retire
early again this eve, must wash stocking tomorrow
