Spice Cake

Cream
1/2c of butter with
1/2c of sugar, add
1/2c of buttermilk and
1/2c of molasses in which
1/2t soda has been stirred.
Then add
2c flour
1/2t cinnamon
1/2t cloves
1/2t ginger. And last add
2 eggs well beaten.
This makes 1 thick layer.
It should bake for about
20 min. in moderate oven
