Fruit Cake

Put in sauce pan & let
simmer:
1 1/2 c. raisins }
1 1/2 c. dates } cut
2 c. boiling water
2 c. sugar
5 T. shortening

Cool.
Add

3 c. flour
1 t. soda
2 t. cinnamon
1 t. cloves
1/2 t. salt
1 c. nuts
1 c. candied fruits

Greased pans lined with
waxed paper.

1 1/2 hrs. mod. oven
