Excellent receipt to pickle cucumbers
after washing the pickles put them in a tub water enough to cover them 1 pt 1/2 salt & cover with cabbage leaves stand 24 hours take off the water & scald it pour over the pickles let them stand 24 hours then throw the water away, cover them with 1/2 vinegar & 1/2 water stand 12 hours scald that & pour over them again for another 12 hours then give them fresh vinegar in bottles or jars 2 oz of blk & white mustard in [small?] bags over each bottle.

ditto Liquorice
do Paregoric
do Gum Arabic
dissolve in hot water
simmer all together and take
a teaspoonful occasionally
