At a meeting of the vestry of Henrico Parish held at the church on Richmond Hill on the eveing of Tuesday Dc. [December] 16th 1814. Present the Revd. [Reverend] Wm. [William] K. Hart chairman Saml. [Samuel] G. Adams, & Thos. [Thomas] Bohannon wardens Joseph A. Myers, Walter Shelton John Miller John Endez Wm. [William] Shepherd Hilary Bakerand Anthony Turner Vestrymen It having been represented that a petition has been or is intended to be presented to the General Assembly of Virginia now in session praying the passage of a law authorising a sale of the glebe of this parish. Resolved that this meeting of the vestry solemnly protest against such sale as well because the incumbent at the time of the passage of the act of the Legislature relating to glebe is still living as because from every information they can gain they have reason to be live it was a private donation and therefore not subject to the general provision of that act. Resolved that this meeting of the vestry will not with standing equally if the present incumbent approve of the same, to the passage of a law.

authorising the sale of teh glebe providing that the proceeds of such sale be ordered to be immediately invested in some productive stock and that the interest or profit thereon accruing be annually paid to the present incumbent during his life and for his benefit; and provided farther that at the death of the present incumbent it shall be divided by the chancery court to whom the proceeds of the sale of the glebe thus invested in stock shall belong. Resolved that a committee of three persons members of this vestry be appointed to carry into affwect the intentions of this meeting that they be instructed to employ counsel to appear for them before any Committee of teh Legislature that may be appointed if in their opinion it be necessary. Resolved that Thomas Bohannon, B. A. Carrington and Wm. [William] Shephard compose said committee on motion adjourned "Glebe" Lands Note Suit was instituted, same taken to the Court of Appeals, but for the sudden death of one of the Judges who would have decided in favor of St. Johns, the case was lost the Glebe passed into the hands of the State & thus lost to our church. Whereas it has been necesary to mean much expense in the purchase of an organ and in rushing other necessary fixtures for the 6 huvels Therefore Resolved that all persons holding Duus in this church who ^(have contributed or) may be willing to contribute an amount equal to the rent of the due ^(for one year) held by such person ^(within two months), shall be permitted to retain such due for the term of three years have the 1st May 1818 at the same rate of rent as is now chargeable upon such due And if any deficiency shall appear after such arrangement the Treasurer shall be authorized to borrow the amount of such deficiency at Banks Interest and this Vestry will guarentee such engagement 162
