We know positively that the annexed statement of the handout and character of William, called William Yancey contains the truth and declare it as our opinion that if policy will permit the liberation of persons of color to remain among us, no individual has stronger claim to that indulge than the said William Yancey, if
truth, integrity, diligence & affectionate attendance on our
late friend his master can give such claim in the opinion of those who are to decide whether he shall be free and remain a resident of Virginia.
