SUMMARY OF MILITARY OCCUPATIONS: Construction Machine Operator - Attached to the 817th Engineer Battalion throughout campaigns in Africa, Italy, France, and Germany, working in the construction and maintenance of airstrips and highways. Operated bull-dozer, road grader, angledozer, road roller, rock crusher, and concrete mixer. Made minor emergency repairs. Work consisted of leveling, grading, and filling surfaces for which concrete was to be poured and operating concrete mixing machine as first step in the process. Received 6 Bronze Battle stars and Good Conduct Medal; is a marksman on M-1 rifle. Also awarded Good Driver's Badge for efficient and safe driving.
