SUMMARY OF MILITARY OCCUPATIONS: DUTY SOLDIER I: Assisted in the construction and operation of pipe lines and tank formed in India. Pipes carried gasoline to depot for use in airplanes and army trucks. Pipes were placed in ditches about a foot deep and covered with dirt. Pumpkin stations were set up about every 20 miles depending on the elevation of the land. Pipe line ran from Calcutta to Assam, India, a distance of about 600 miles. Supervised civilian workers on this job. Kept record of time civilians worked, also made cut gas and stock reports.
