Investigated accidents involving military personnel and equipment which resulted in claims in favor of, or against the United States Government. Covered all phases of investigation, including possible claims against the Government; line of duty status of injured personnel, and need of disciplinary action; prepared report of investigation and recommended action. Estimated amount of damage or loss of property and effected settlement of claims. Advised on legal rights and obligations and rendered decisions on legality of claims. Has a thorough knowledge of Army Regulations and court decisions pertaining to claims, and a knowledge of local law and customs of the Middle East, this being essential in preparation of claims which were settled under the provisions of the Foreign Claims Act.
