SUMMARY OF MILITARY OCCUPATIONS: Foreman, Water Supply--Served overseas for 18 months in European Theater of Operations with the 27ath Engineer Combat Battalion. Was responsible for the operation and maintenance of purification machinery at water supply points in France, Germany, Belgium, Holland. Had supervision over 50 water supply technicians and was responsible for instructing mew enlisted men. Tested raw water; made various chemical analyses to ascertain content of water for disease or pollution. Checked purification equipment to see if it was in good operating condition and made or supervised repair of some. Plotted possible water supply points for new sources. Maintained and supervised military and civilian water installations

MILITARY EDUCATION: Water Research Bureau, Watford, England--Water Pollution Research for 120 hours, Visited water and sewage disposal plants throughout England and Scotland and discusses various methods and treatments of the purification of water and sewage with the chemists and engineers. Viewed the various types of mechinery [machinery] used in sewage disposal. Also visited the laboratories.

CIVILIAN OCCUPATIONS: Water Filterer-Was employed by the Trojan Powder Works, Sandusky, Ohio, from June 1941 to September 1943. Treated raw water by use of chemicals in order to classify it for further purification processing. The method used for coagulation was flooding it; employing an accelator. The the effluent passed through a filter bed thus removing the fine colloidal suspension and the greater percentage of bacteria. From there it was pumped to the various receiving stations supplying classified water for use in production of TNT.
