Montreal June 4 /69 Gentlemen I saw Mr Dana yesterday, whom I found a very agreeable man, and ready to do all manner service for me. after 28 years [ousted, vested ?] it is now the property of the author, and that a revisit and subsequent history is added. Both these are but [ ?] in a few words in my new preface. It occurs to me that, to bid the sale, the preface, or some [reference ?] of it should be published in the papers. Very truly R. H. Dana Jr Messrs Fields, Osgood & Co.
