| Untitled Page 41board of her. I dont understand why we
are making so much northing when our
courses have not been higher than E to
E.N.E. However we are making fine
progress & if such breezes continue may
hope to be in England in ten days more.
The sky today is very misty and we can
scarcely see a ship two miles distant
I think we may expect a Northwester
Our ship for a cotton loaded ship is
very staunch & we can carry sail heavy
At 3 1/2 P.M. almost without any appearance came
heavy rains from the west. Wind died away.
At 8 PM wind came out in gusts from N.W.
& cold & raw. Braced yards on port tack to
correspond, & set Mainsail. Ship going about
7 knots E 1/2 S. Ends with thick cloudy weather
and cold.
