San Francisco Bay Friday 4th Jany 1861 Strong S. E. gales & rainy. Every man forward goes to Hospital. Our next voyage is from here to Chinchas, for Guam thence to Cork for orders. My friends are well only little Freddie who I fear will not live till I get home.

Saturday 5th Jany Still lying in stream, preparing ship for Docks

Sunday 6th Jany San Francisco, Cal Fine weather. Got one sick man ashore, & at noon hauled into Hathaways wharf at Rincon Point. Busy all day - in Eve at Mr Lacy's Ch a few minutes. then on board & heaving ship in.

Monday 7 Jany Fair westerly airs & calms. Began to discharge between Decks. Every one left but our boy Johnny. Dick died yesterday at Hospital. Busy day & night which come pretty hard after a long hard voyage.

Mr. B. paid off & left & came back. Thursday 10th Jany Fine day. Recd of Capt B. $5.00 on acs. Paid Pants &c $1.50. bal due Mr. C. Fruit & Tobacco $2.00. Friday 11th Gine weather. Nothing new. fr spare time Saturday 12. Fine weather strong breezes. Dischg Called at Mrs. Cases Stockton St.
