My Dear Clarence

Yours of May 18th reached
me this morning, late one you wrote
the Wednesday before went on to
Paris too late, so I shall not receive
it probably until tomorrow.

We are just terrified at
the terrible news of cyclone at
St Louis, last night. We trust
the reports are much exaggerated
Present reports are 1300 killed.
We cannot understand your
mention of Leicester's change of
business, he has written us
nothing. I trust your graduation
went off beautifully, I was with
you through out it. and by
tomorrow you will receive
my first letter to you with
your title upon it. " Your
royal possomship."

[page break]

We had a beastly passage
over from France, I was as
sick as a dog, as was every-
body else, so there was no
favoritism. We reached London
about 8 o'clock, Miller spent
the evening with us. We shall remain
here until Monday, then go down
to Bath for two weeks of soaking
which will do all three of us
great good, then we shall
spend the last week or rather
5 days in Matlock and
sail by the Lucania,
Sat June 20th from Liverpool
1st cabin. I am afraid
this news reaches you rather
late but could not be sure
of our date of leaving before
so just write to the ship &
run the chances that I get it
Daddy + Brother Miller
are smoking while I
scribble to you close by,
and they are now warning
one to hurry up as we
are off to the opera tonight
It is "[Lohengrin" my
darling, our dearly loved
