Monday the 15th she spit quite freely, she got some Blood-weed to steep and takem I got some warm watter to put her foot in though I didn;t knpw what was the matter. She didnt tell "for fear it would frighten me." she said. By her getting Blood-weed to take I asked if she was spitting blood. She said yes! It soon abated. She did not raise much that after noon, though the night coughed and raised considerable in the morning was better. We sent for Dr. Hnowton of Ashfield (he is the most skillful of any we know of) he said it was not - very pleasant to be in that situation, but we need not be alarmed he thought it would benefit to her instead of an injury. Her lungs would be relieved of their pressure, her cough would be better and by takeing some medicine to heal her lungs + regulate her - system. she would be better in a few days. She is better! her cought is lighter, strength is gaining and how feels as well as - before only not quite sp strong last week she commenced taking Townsend's Sasparilla, she + we think it does her good, she has not coughed as much for three days before. do not worry about her now. The rest are usualy well. Lydias school closes for a vacation of two weeks, this week saturday. She gets along with her school first rate. Though I have not visited yet. Brother Edward does not live near by, if he did I should have had the horse and gone over there long ago. we expected Mr Pierce here this week Saturday. His school closed last Thursdayfor a vacation of four weeks. he will stay three or four days. O I wish you could be here we would train them. Sophronia an I will have some fun - with them anyway. I thank you for sending me that book by Jonathan and that pale of sugar I suppose you sent to. put into my sugar by Jonathan first time. but will have to stand a good while for that. as for the pail I'm afraid you will not get it very soon. Mary sends her love to you + a good hugging to Emelette. but I claim the first one. She says I may have it Mother sends her respects, often says she wishes Machester was nearer - then she could visit it sometimes. She has not decided what to have the wool worked ibti, if you please you may lay it by till another year. I hope you will write me soon. I wish you had sent my muff by Mary. perhaps I shall have other chances to get it. I haven't rool to write neare all I want to. Must wait till next time. If I tell you about my affairs I shall be blamed by others, Perhaps I do not keep things to myself as I should, but in you I - am confident I have friends that will not change with the wind. but what I say you will not mention to others. and after reading what I have written on the slip of paper enclosed in this you will please commit it to the flames, wont you? I trust your fidelity. Wednesday Morning. we are all well as usual, I leave the work for Mother to do up, and finish this letter to carry it to the office when I go to the society this afternoon. Yesterday I attended the funeral of "Mrs Fisher Ames" She lives down by 'Cambells store' perhaps you hear of them he is son of old Mr Ames of this Neighborhood. Her complaint was "congestion of the lungs" after her death. they examined her lungs and said they were filled with clotted blood except one small place for her breath. She suffered much while she lived. There are several others in town that are quite sick with different diseases. I must close if you can read this you will do well. "Kiss Emelette for me." "Good Morning" from Rachel,
