Mrs [N. E. Green?]

Dear Madam

We can lay out a [small?] lot near the gate and near to some shade trees on either Halesia, Gerardia or Vernonia paths. The size of this lot would be 150 sq feet (one half the usual size) and the price of this lot finished ready for use with corner posts, numbered, and sodded, including also the care of the grass forever, would be ( $435 [/100?] ) four hundred and thirty five dollars. There are some lots a little farther from the Entrance, of about the same size which we can sell you for $300, and although there is not very much shade there now, we are likely to set out more trees this fall & next spring.

Respectfully J. W. Lovering Supt.

Mr. H.L. Grew

Dear Sir

Your favor of Aug 13 is at hand.

Where a lot is sold with the understanding that a Tomb is to be built $50.^00^ additional is charged for the "right to build" and in all cases where Tombs are built on old lots the same charge is made.

Mr Henry Sayles Trustee

Dear Sir

Mr. Pierrepont-Edwards left directions for the headstone just erected in lot 4286 to be righted as it had sunk.

Upon examination of the lot I find the headstone to be in proper position and am therefore at a loss to determine what was intended by the order.

Please advise me what, if anything, ought to be done.

Very Respectfully

Mr. Chas. P. Foster 41 Bowdoin S.B.

Dear Sir

It is necessary for a person wishing to remove the remains of a deceased person to obtain a permit therefor from the proper authorities. In this case from the City Clerk of Cambridge and also to furnish an order from the Prop^r^ of the lot, to be filed here. The permit accompanies the remains and is left at the place of interment. The charges here will not exceed $5.00.

Mr. C.B. Fessenden

Dear Sir

I have had your lot 1835 examined by the Gardener who reports that the banks ought to be resodded and a little patching done to the sod elsewhere; this will not cost more than $25.00; otherwise than this the lot will compare favorably with other lots in the Cemetery, the drought of the last three months having been very severe. Your address on my book is "Care Drexel [Harjes?] &c in Paris France" is this correct for balance of year.

Mr. L.A. Field

Dear Sir

There is no foundation at all under the stones. A found. should be built under both which would make the size 5 ft x 1 ft. and would cost $7.60.

Mrs. George Daniels ([Po b 93?] Newton)

Dear Madam

The headstone marked N.W. Pratt, in lot 204 Central Av. was never properly set. The foundation is perfectly solid; the headstone having been merely placed, upon the found. and made level by one or two pebbles put under it; this to have been properly set should have set in a bed of cement.

I should think that whoever furnished & set the stone ought to make the repairs in a proper manner without charge. It would cost us not far from $1.50 to reset it.

Mr. R.K. Carpenter

Dear Sir

Your letter of Aug. 28, in reference to lot #2051 Trull is received; herewith is the exact ^amount^ of Labor and material used

17 1/2 days labor gardening & sodding @ $2.00 = $35.00
1 [1/2] loads loam [@] 0.75 7.50
2 [loads] manure [@] 3.00 6.00
920 sq. feet sod [@] [3.05?] 27.60
You will notioce that the item "labor & sods" are heavy and compose the major part of the charge; the lot was so far from the avenue on the path that the stone had to be conveyed by hand quite a distance to the damage of some adjacent lots which of course had to be repaired. The repair to the injured lots amount in round numbers to 30.00 which leaves only 46.00 expended on the ground of lot 2051.

I saw the work in progress and know that for the work specified the above was used while as this was done in hot weather considerate expense was incurred for watering for which no charge is made.

Very Respectfully
