Proprietors 1838
Pursuant to the above notice which was published in the Mercantile Journal, a newspaper printed in Boston, seven days before the time of the said meeting the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn met at the said Rooms of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society on In the absence of the President Doctor Jacob Bigelow was chosen President pro tem.
Trustees Chosen.
The following named gentlemen were then elected ^by ballot Trustees for the ensuing year Messrs Joseph Story, George Bond, Jacob Bigelow, Benjm A. Gould, James Reed, Charles P. Curtis, Martin Brimmer, Benjm R. Curtis, Isaac Parker.
Treasr Report.
The Treasurers Report was then read by the Secretary & it was voted to accept the same & that it be recorded by the Secretary.-
voted that this meeting be now disolved.

the past year. By this it appears that the sum of $2985 Dollars has been inoested [invested] for account of the Proprietors $884.06 paid over to the Treasurer of the Mass. Hor. Society & $1253.59 remains in the Treasury.

Pursuant to a notice to that effect issued by the Secretary the Trustees of the Proprietors of the Cemetery of Mount Auburn met at the home of George Bond Esq. on
Messrs Bigelow, Bond, B.R. Curtis, Gould Parker & Reed appeared & signified their acceptance of the office of Trustee.

Voted. That Jacob Bigelow, Geo Bond & Charles P. Curtis be the Comee on Lots, with the same

powers as were proposed by the Comee on Lots of the last year, & with authority to lay out in paths, avenues & lots any unoccupied portion of the grounds.
Sale of Lots limited -
Voted. That no lots shall be sold in that part of the ^grounds of the Cemetery North of Garden Pond & East of Central Avenue until the further order of the board.
Care of E. gate.
Voted. That the Treasurer be authorized to pay to C. R. Humphrey twenty dollars in full for his services in the case of the care of the Eastern Gate to this date.
S. R. Newell Lot offered to him
Voted. That a Lot in the Cemetery be offered to Mr S. R. Newell for his services to the present time in auditing accounts & to be selected by him from the Lots now laid out.
Trespassers to be notified-
Voted. That the Secretary give notice to all persons who have trespassed on the lands of the Proprietors by enclosing more land in their Lots in the Cemetery than belong to them, to pay for the same or reduce their enclosures, & that the
Committee on Lots
Comee on Lots have power to arrange individual cases as they shall think just.
Voted to adjourn.

Trustees.
The Trustees of the Proprietors of the Cemy. of Mount Auburn met, pursuant to notice from the Secretary at the Porters Lodge in the Cemy. on . Present Messrs Bigelow, Bond, Brimmer, C. P Curtis, B. R. Curtis, Gould, Read & Story.
Premium
Voted. That Dr. Bigelow be authorized to offer a premium of Fifty Dollars for the best design of a monument.
Trees not to be exposed
Voted. That the Superintendent & the Surveyor of the Cemy. be instructed not to lay out any Lot in such a situation that the digging of graves & the erecting of a Tomb thereon would be injurious to any valuable tree _
Voted. To adjourn to the Treasurers office at .
The Trustees met pursuant to the above mentioned adjournment.
Irregular Lots.
Voted. That the Commee on Lots be authorized to sell such irregular peices of ground as cannot be laid out in Lots of 300 feet & as it may not be expendient to reserve for public monuments, at their discretion provided however that the charge per foot shall not be less than 26 2/3 cents & the sum of 20 dollars for the right of selection.
