deemed requisite for preventing injury to the edifices,
fences, monuments, avenues, paths, trees, shrubs and
plants.

Sixth. In the capacity of Gardener he shall attend
to the reception & cultivation of plants & seeds which
may be received at the Garden; and perform all such
duties as may be required for the improvement and
embellishment of the Garden & Cemetery.

Seventh. He shall keep a book in which shall be
entered all valuable trees, plants, seeds & other articles which
may be received at the establishments, designating the kinds,
from whom, and whence they came, & give with such, an
account of their character & uses as he may be enabled
to obtain.

Eighth. He shall keep a journal of all work done
in the grounds (of the Garden & Cemetery) and introduce
such remarks and incidents, as may be calculated to pre-
sent a full & clear view of the progress made in all the
departments, and of such improvements as it may be
deemed expedient to undertake, either for the purposes
of utility or ornament.
