In our effort to abandon high school methods of teaching and
general persuasive tendencies to make students study and to like the
subject at hand I am afraid that we may be going too far in the other
direction of casting the burden upon the students. The--"It's up to
you" tendency. On account of their inadequate preparation these
students must be helped morer. In order to increase the helpful
attitude I am asking each teacher to make known one hour (known as
office hour) for at least three times a week during which students may
come in with special difficulties.

The following list shows the percent of students passing in
each subject in the Freshman College work.

English--85%; Mathematics--40%; History--65%; Biology--40%;
French--70%; Music--62%.

The average percent is 60%. This figure shows that the situation is not
alaarming.

The following table groups the students in the Freshman
College classes in the order of their excellence. The numbers 1, 2, 3,
etc. indicates their relative position in respect to the other students
in the class. (P means passing and F means failing.)
