Case United States vs Lupton Charged Failure to arrest deserter While at dinner at the hotel Bayboro, North Carolina, February 19, 1918 I heard a very heated discussion between Doctor Deess and Sheriff Lupton, and during the remarks Sheriff Lupton took Doctor Dees to task for failure to perform his duty on the Exemption Board. Doctor Dees stated direct to Sheriff Lupton that other officials in the County had not performed thier duty and Sheriff Lupton then demanded in what
