I joined the girls Tomato club and have enjoyed the work fine. I attended several meetings and though they were quite interesting. On December 17th Papa plowed my one-tenth acre at his best estimation about eight inches deep with a two horse turning plough, and Mar. 21th Papa plowed my one-tenth acre the second time with a one horse turning plow, and April 17th papa harrowed it till good and mellow. On March 21th I sowed my first bed of seeds in a small box and every evening I would give my bed a thorough sprinkling in order to keep the soil loose and moist and on April 10th my box was green with beautiful little plants. Jan. 27, 1912, can't be a valid date. If this date were correct, the booklet would be describing activity from Dec. 1910 to July 1911, but Home Demonstration in NC did not exist prior to Nov. 1911. The Oct. 1912 date seems more valid, and perhaps the Jan. 27, 1912, date was meant to be Jan. 27, 1913.
