Minutes Of The March lst Meeting Of The North Carolina Negro Home Demonstration Agents' Association

Meeting was called to order in the Guilford County Negro Extension office at 4:50 P. M. on March 1, 1951 with the president in the chair. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved as read. The president opened the house for discussion of the date for the next meeting. She mentioned that June 3rd. had been suggested as a possible date. Mrs. Johnson questioned whether the meetings would follow along the lines as originally planned, that was that the three proposed meetings of the year be one social, one business, and one with District Agents. Miss Rich suggested that since mileage is uppermost in the minds of the agents, the next meeting be with District Agents. Mrs. Johnson stated that she felt that Mr. Jones would finish that in the forthcoming District meetings.

The motion was made by Mrs. Parker, seconded by Mrs. Nixon and carried unanimously that the next meeting be held with Agents alone.

The date was discussed, with several citing various possibly conflicting dates in June. Mrs. Moore suggested May 19th , Mrs. Parker, May 26; Mrs. Baldwin cautioned on the nearness of the latter date to the beginning of Wild Life Camp.

A vote was called for on the question of meeting on the weekend of the 19th. of May. A majority voted in the affirmative by raising of hands. Bricks was suggested as a meeting place. Mrs. Tyner made the motion that we look into the matter of getting Bricks as a meeting place. The Chair asked for a show of hands on the question. The majority of Agents raised hands approving motion. Miss Rich suggested that we stick to date, and if we cannot get Bricks, come to Raleigh as originally planned.

, The Chair mentioned the constitutional provision of the annual election of officers. Mrs. Kirk moved that current officers be retained. Motion lost for lack of second. It was moved by Mrs. Nixon, seconded and carried that the Chair appoint a nominating committee. Whereupon the Chair appointed the following: Mrs. Annie Brown Branche, N. E.; Mrs. Lucy O. Toole, S. E., and Mrs. Irene Parham Powell, W. to comprise the Nominating Committee. This committee was asked to report at the next meeting.
