I joined the Girls canning Club because I thought I would like to work with the tomatoes and I also thought it would be easy money made for myself. I am glad I did join because I have enjoyed the work so much. I also thought I would like to have something that I could call my own.
My garden was 132ft long and 33 ft wde contain-

ing 4,356 sq. ft. It was located on upland. but it was A very moist place.
The soil was light sandy soil. I selected this plat because it was the exact size I wanted and it was where it wouldnt' in the way of any thing else and too I thought the soil would suit the tomatoes.
My plat was broken and harrowed early in the spring and when I got ready

to set the plants out it was harrowed again and furrowed out by going twice to the row. I thought it best to have the ground level because I didn't think the dry weather would hurt them as much.
I used electric standard fertilize and put one hundred lb on my one tenth acre. I put the fertilize in when I set out the plants.
My plants were grown in a hot bed and when they were about two or three inches high I transplanted to A cold frame
