The Tomato Club.

When the different interested people in tomato club business began to talk to me about it, I was uncertain whether to join or not. So at last I agreed to join and try it but I was almost afraid of a failure.

It seemed hard at first to get started but at last I got my patch laid off measured and plowed, then I ridged my rows, which I had nine and started my work. Then next I set out my tiny plants, which I hoed three times and plowed them twice and then they began to grow beautifully. And after a short whilte they bloomed and little tomatoes began to come then I began to get better in heart with them, soon they were full of tomatoes

ripe and green. Then came most of the fun, canning, which I am sure most any girl would enjoy. Many times I went to can and enjoyed it to the fullest extent. The most I ever canned at one time was fifty-eight. Still I suppose others of the club canned more while at the same time I was just as proud.as [proud as] them.

The first time I canned fifteen and the last time I canned twenty-eight. And the [crossed out] when I finished I had near five hundred, and for the first year of success I am as proud as most any tomato club girl.
