March the twenty second I made a bed of manure and woods dirt in a fence corner and half of my seed. April the twenty seventh I sowed the other half of the seed making a bed as for the other ones. May the eleventh I transplanted about fifty plants of the first sowing making a bed of rich dirt. May the twenty first I transplaned forth plants of hte second sowing. [ink smudge] making a bed as before.

April the tenth papa hauled one two horse load of manure on my [illegible] of an acre spreading it on load cart.

And about April the twentith papa plowed by garden with a two horse turn plow plowing it 10 in. deep.

May the twenty fourth papa [illegible] out my garden making the rows four feet apart. I put forth lb. of fertilze (Guano 10-8[?]) putting a single handful to the hill then I covered the fertilze several in. deep.

May the twenty fifth I set fifty plants of the first sowing putting htem in several in.

May the twenty ninth I set out thirth eight plants. I put them in about three in. deep and nearly all of them died.
