History of my Tomato crop

I am a country girl 13 years of age and live on a farm and joined the tomato club thinking that I would learn more about farming which has proved true.

My garden was 1/10 of an acre in size.

The soil was black loam about eight inches deep and the subsoil was red.

the first row and did not put but 20 lbs. of firtilizer [fertilizer] in my garden.

I did not prune nor stake my plants.

I had to sew my seeds 3 times before I could get a stand, It was rather late when I transplanted them.

The season was so dry I had to carry water about a quater [quarter] of a mile, I put about 1/2 pint to each plant.

I could of canned several more cans if I had had time and cans enough

after I had canned all of my tomatoes in tin cans, I canned 3 quart jars of Pear Preserves 3 bottles of tomato catsup and 3 quart Jars of Tomatoes to send to the State fair at Raleigh.

after all I think I done Better than I expected But hope to do better next year
