History of my tomato patch.

Late in the Spring 1914 several girls, together with the mothers and county collaborator, assembled at Minerva School House for the purpose of organizing a "Girls Canning Club:" Some hesitations were made because it was so late in the spring, but I insisted [crossed-out] that we [/crossed-out] that we organize a club so that [illegible] [illegible], for four seasons. First, in order that I may learn to can fruits and vegetables, that they would prove satisfactorily for sale. second, that I may earn some money and help pay my expenses at college, third that I may learn to do my work in a business like manner, and fourth that we may meet and enjoy ourselves on demonstration days or any other picnic days and learn to be more sociable.
