Sunday Dec 10th 1854. At 9 a.m. got under way & proceaded [PROCEEDED] to sea. At 10 A.M. discharged the Pilot. Light airs from the East & pleasant. All sail set by the wind Ends sea account.

[11th?] Dec [DECEMBER] First part light winds from the East & pleasant Standing on the port tack. At six p.m. spoke ship Elizabeth of Bath from Chinca[?] Islands for Hampton Roads. Midle light airs & pleasant. Latter part fine winds from the E,S.E. & pleasant. Set Topmast Studding sail. Exchanged signals with an American Bark bound South.

[13th?] Dec DECEMBER]. This day fresh winds & pleasant weather. Std [STUDDING] sails set low [???] aloft. F Fish & Nautilus. smooth sea Stearing N.W.by N. Chance looks prosperous for a good passage.

[18th?] Dec [DECEMBER] First part light airs from the SE & pleasant. Middle & latter part light winds from the East & pleasant. [I] think I have [CROSSED?] the doldroms [DOLDRUMS]. Few F fish.
