28th A cold NE wind, with some rain. A long cold easterly spell, with frequent showers. Some frost has been noticed among the corn & squash & melon vines. The grass grown luxuriantly and bids fair for a great crop of hay.

4th 6 mo A fine shower today, the grass looks promising. But vegetation in general is backward. It has been a long spell of cold easterly winds. Very few warm days.

Our market has been scantily supplied for most articles usually brought to sell. Very little wood and the price high. Oak 8$ Pine 7.50 per cord. Flour has declined a little from8.25 to 7.50 per barrel, Hay32$ per ton Corn 90 cents [NESS?] beef 12.50 per barrel extra quality 10.50 for half barrel. Molasses 45 by the [???] Boards 20$ per thousand.

1st 6 mo A Silk Factory is established and now in operation, on Academy Hill, under the auspices of Aaron Mitchell and others.

9th 6 mo Steam Boat aground on Brant Point outward bound with many passengers.

9th 6 mo The wind has prevailed easterly for 21 days in succession, with much fog & frequent rains & generally uncomfortably cold and windy. At 10 o'clock AM the wind changed Westerly with a small breeze & very foggy. At one o'clock PM a light air, veered found to NE again and the weather warmer.
