The earliest example of printed music in England appears in Wynkyn de Worde's 1495 ed. of Ranulf Hidgen's Polyaonicon. Fewer than 12 books with music were printed in England before 1530.

1st Spanish Bible printed in Spain --> 1793. A translation from the Vulgate by Rev. P. Felipe Scio de S. Miguel, Vonfessor to Ferdinand VII. All earlier Spanish Bibles were published outside of Spain and generally without the approval of the Catholic Church. Father Scio's translation was printed in Madrid, and its 2nd ed. (1797) furnished the text for the 1st Spanish Testament printed in America.

In the mid-1790s Thomas was as the height of his activities as a publisher. He employed about 150 people in Worcester alone. His back list had great depth in textbooks and Bibles and a range that was unrivaled. By the end of the century I. Thomas was one of the nation's richest men, with a fortune estimated at over $150,000. Though he was the nation's 1st great publisher, Thomas is more often remembered for 2 things. The 1st in his History of Printing in America and the 2nd in the founding of the American Antiquarian Society.
