Monday 2nd- Dec 1839- Before sunrise this
morning the Agent was about to start for
Ajmoun to endeavour to [draw] a final answer
from the Schaikhs about my going to Byreemee
and to enable me to determine as to the necessity
of sending the Residents letter to the [Vaim]
Chiefs- when a letter arrived from Schaikh
Sultan bin Sugger saying that he had secured
the Residents letter recommending him
to desist from hostilities with Mugawain
and that he had written saying he would
do so until his return from Muskat, but
that the proper of the place were preparing
to war with him - in the evening the Agent
returned from Ajmaun saying things were
a bas aspect that he could not get a decided
answer from the Schkaikhs although Hamed
bin Rashed had returned from Ras el Khymah
he sent word that he would send horses and
camels to bring me to Ajmaun in the morning-
