Such is the miniature likeness
of Judge Lowell. It is earnestly
to be wishes that the same
masterly hand that sketched it would
finish the picture & make it
large as the life. It would
be worthy a place beside that
of the honorable man whch
is already in your possession.
Together they could form a
rare assemblage of various
excellencies with whch every
youth should be ambitious
to adorn his own character.
Be it then your endeavour, young
gentlemen, to have their virtues
inscribed on your hearts,
& copied in your lives. By
your example show the world what they were. let
these great & good & useful
men live again in your
lives. So doing, you will best
repair that loss sustained by
their death-- reward the anxious
& faithful care of those

[right side]

who have the oversight
& direction of your education
& fulfil the expectations of
your anxious & affectionate
parents.-- If you will now
become of those who
through faith & patience
inherit the promises-- if you
will now walk in the same
path of goodness& virtue of
industry, & usefulness, of faith &
holiness in whch they walked
before you, it wll conduct
you to the same heaven of
glory into whc they have
already entered.-- Lke them
you will leave a name
behind you whch is better than
precious ointment & whch
may have the like happy influence
on others whch then or now
has on your own hearts.--

This life has been emphatically
styled "a point between
two Eternities." It is the period
of our trial, & on it are
suspended our everlasting concerns.
