the name of a clever good souled fellow.
The circumstances connected with his sickness
are somewhat singular - His mother had
come on to this part of the country to visit
some friends with her son; accordingly they
left town the 31st of May for Plymouth and
after a short visit came back again Wednesday afternoon
That evening he was at a literary meeting
in the academy in as good health, with
the exception of a slight swelling on the
cheek, as any one - We heard nothing more
of him until Saturday morning, when
the news came that he was not expected
to live + his Father, + a doctor from Boston
had been sent for. This inteligence spread
with the rapidity of lightning through the
school, every one knew it. The sabbath was
a very solemn day to us all - the thought
one of number was so ill, perhaps on a
dying bed caused us to feel the shortness
of life + that perhaps our course was almost
run. During this time the sick did not
retain his reason but for a few moments
at a time, then he asked that christians
would pray for him, that he might be
prepared to depart this life; for as yet
