Wednesday Eve July 27th 1853.

Kind Parents,

Yours came in due time, and gave
much pleasure. You must not expect a very long note
from me to night, for it is already near 10 oclock. I have
just come to my room, after having spent the evening
reckoning up the board bill; which will come a few cents
higher than last term, viz 1,42. The present is the busiest
time I ever saw in Andover, every thing is full of life and
activity, I have ahd more to do the last week than
any fortnight before. Yesterday afternoon we middlers
went after evergreens to trim the exhibition hall.
This afternoon it has rained, so that we could not work,
to carry out our plans fully we have no time to spare
between this and examination day. As I have been
put on the "committe of arrangements", I expect to have
all I can attend to all this week and monday at least.
But about the visit here - You are really coming up to this
town of notions are you Lydia? Well, Andover is a funny place
plenty of blueberries and white-washed houses here. The dormitories
however are of that color which is seen in many a
