This is to certify that we the undersigned were hands employed
or working for [Shaw] on the Crops of Cotton & Corn
made by Anthony Owens Phoelon Dyer Paul Jones
and William Gaiter on the Black Baou plantation in the years of 1865, 1866, & 1868, that
we have been shown the power of attorney that
was made by them to J. O. Simmons, it bearing date
June 22' 1868, that its contents was read & explained
to us, that we fully endorse & ratify the same
as much so as if we were a party to the Same -
and we do hereby specially delegate unto J. O. Simmons power
to represent our interest in the connection that we
occupy as Employers under the said Owens, Dyer Jones
& Gartin with a full transfer of all our respective
dues and deshans[?] upon the said parties [interest], with him the said J. O. Simmons,
