GATHERING OF THE ABORIGINES. -- The blacks have within the last few days been very troublesome in the neighbourhood of St. Ruth, Halliford, Daandine, and Weranga stations. About 400 are assembled at Broadwater (St. Ruth's run), and have been spearing cattle to a considerable extent. A few days ago a body of men from Daandine attempted to drive them off the run, but they showed fight, and it was deemed advisable to retire. A body of constables was sent out to assist the men on the stations, and one of the blacks who had taken a prominent part in the proceedings was captured. He was brought before Mr. Roche on Thursday, and remanded for a week. Another one, however, named Yorkey, is more particularly wanted; but up to the present time he has kept out of the way of the police. About 1100 are represented to be in the neighbourhood of the stations mentioned above and the amount of damage done by them it is impossible at present to ascertain. The blacks are stated to be from the vicinity of Goondiwindi, and the New South Wales border. A patrol of police is in the locality composed of the Dalby force, but their strength is inadequate to cope with such overwhelming odds. -- Dalby Herald.
