particular attention to be called to his item.

57/65 July 13th. 1857.

Sir, I do myself the honor to forward vouchers and receipts for the sums mentioned in the Margin, and for which I have drawn cheques on public account. I have never experienced such a season as this in the Northern district. It has been utterly impossible for the firms of "W. Gray and Co." or "Panton and Co.", to forward the Native Police supplies, and, as the Troopers were nearly naked, I did the best I could, under the circumstances.

I have the honor to be Sir, Your most Obedient Servant Francis Nicoll Lieut. Native Police.

The Commandant Native Police.
