Inquest of death held at Gilberton by Howard St George Esq PM on 19th November 1872 on the body of Ah Cook

Ah Long being duly sworn by blowing out a mach says through a suly sworn interpretor Lt Han my name is Ah Ah Long. I am a miner. I was working at the 10 Mile. Ah Cook was working at the same place. I recollect the 12 inst. I saw the blacks coming. It was about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. I was frightened

Gung Wah being duly sworn by blowing out a match says through a duly sworn interpreter St *** My name is Gung ah. I am a miner and was working at the 6 Mile. I knew the deceased Ah Cook. I recollect Saturday 16th inst, on that day I went down to the 10 Mile. I saw Ah Cook dead. I with the Police helped ot bury him.

Daniel Coakley being duly sworn says my name is Daniel Coakeley. I am a constable in the Queensland Police and stationed at Gilberton. I recollect Saturday 16th inst on that day. I was at the 10 Mile. I was engaegd in searching for the Chinamen who were reported to the Police as missing. I found a body of a Chinaman in a very advanced state of decomposition

He was lying among the rocks in the bed of the river. One of his legs was partly eaten away by native dogs or hawks. I found the pouch now prodcued on his person. In it is a miners right in the name of Ah Cook. I came in. I sent some Chinamen down to bury him.
