2303 . AF 5th April 1912.
Madam, In acknowledging the receipt of your letter without date, I have the honor, by direction, to inform you, with regard to the death of your late brother, First Class Constable Edward Patrick Smith, that the evidence taken at the Magisterial Inquiry, shewed that deceased hanged himself at the Police station paddock at Turn-off Lagoons, where he was stationed, on the 13th September, 1911, and that immediately prior to the deed, he was troubled in his mind so much so as to furnish the conclusion that he was in a state of temporary insanity.
I have the honor to be, Madam, Your obedient Servant, [Unreadable signature] Secretary.
Miss Rose Smith, C/o Mrs. Brown, "Spionkopf"' Harcourt Street, Teneriffe. BRISBANE.
