Dear Sir The aboriginals in this part of the district have of late been causing a considerable amount of annoyance and inconvenience to the miners in the various creeks around this place. They have lately taken to thieving rations &c. from camps. There is no place nearer for them than Montalbion
24 miles distant, & so they are forced to come into this place. There are often from 150 to 200 of them in at a time & I have at my own expense been feeding them. I intend making application to the Government for some remuneration & I would esteem it a favour if you would direct me to the proper department to apply to, & assist me in obtaining the usual grant. Thanking you in anticipation I Remain Yours resectfully Chas. Denford.
