I do myself the honor of bringing under your notice that certain of the Magistrates of this district have applied to me for the purposes of ascertaining if any, and what, reply has been received in this office, to a letter addressed to the late Honble. Colnl. Secretary by my predecessor, dated Septemb. 1st 1865 & numbered 84 giving a series of resolutions passed at a meeting of the

local Magistrates, on the 14th of the same month in relation to some injurious reports which the Honble Sectry had entertained of them collectively; And I am now requested to convey to you the fact that in searching the records of this office, it appears that no reply has been received to the letter in question & what the Magistrates had hoped to have been favored with.
