Commissioner of Police Clerical error. in estimates of 1874
Long Service pay for Constables
Brisbane 6th July 1874
Sir
I have the honor to inform you that in drawing up the Estimates of Police Expenditure for the current year a clerical error occurred which has been the cause of some little confusion and dissatisfaction, but which can easily be remedied.
A sum has been voted for "Additional pay to [ordinary][underlined] "Constables over ten years [sic] service" & this should have been "Additional pay
The Hon The Colonial Secretary
[margin notes:] Shall include all Members of the ordinary Police force under the rank of Sub. -Inspector

By the wording of the Estimates as printed the Sergeants and their Constables would be deprived of this additional pay to which they are as fully entitled as the Constables serving under them.
Sufficient money has been voted to meet all demands.
With your Sanction I will issue the additional pay to the Senior Constables and Sergeants.
