Copy of telegram forwarded to Sub Inspr Ahern March 17/84

"Afternoon fifteenth 15th went town to get vouchers signed - Clerk asked horse accompany me - I consented - Leaving town 5 p.m. requested him to return with me - he said he would catch me up on road - At 9 p.m. he had not arrived at camp - I started town purpose getting Government horse - arrived at 10 p.m. found Clerk under influence liquor on verandah hotel talking loudly amidst crowd low characters horse hanging up outside. Told him if he would not come out I would take horse - He started but returned in few minutes said did not want horse made use of abusive language and insulted me most grossly - I took horse from him and returned camp where he followed me next morning on private horse. I find he is also circulating lying reports calculated hamper me in relations with business people in town - Stuart is behaving well but Clerk intolerable nuisance and I respectfully beg he may be removed elsewhere without delay -"
