The Hon Colonial Secretary

Sir

A few weeks since I asked you whether the allowance of five pounds *** which was made to the Union Camp blackfellows through the Warden of that place would be continued, as the amount of three pounds to which Mr Carr proposed to reduce it would be insufficient.

You promised to inform me through the Under Secretary. Since then I have called upon him several times but have not yet obtained the information.

I know nothing whatever of this matter.

Sub Inspr Carr has been authorised by the Colonial Secretary direct to issue rations to aborigines in this district and is the only officer so authorised.

I have wired Mr Carr to report whether any increase is necessary.
