POLICE DEPARTMENT, COMMISSIONER'S OFFICE, BRISBANE, 14th. May 1889.

In your reply be sure to give 89 . 5955 Ind : Bd : this number in the margin.

Recommends that Sen. Cons. M. C. Mc Dermott be allowed to retire.

Sir, I have the honor to inform you that Senior Constable Michael C. McDermott has applied to retire on superannuation. I have had the - Senior Constable examined by the Medical Board and beg to attach their certificate. The Senior Constable having served for a period of over fifteen years I would recommend that he be allowed to retire under the provisions of the 22nd. Section of "The Police Act of 1863" on the pension due to his rank, viz, £71:0:0 per annum.

The Commissioner of Police

Sir, By direction, we this day examined Senior Constable Michael Mc.Dermott: We find that he is ruptured; that he suffers from enlargement of the liver and that, from old standing from fever & ague, the loss of all his teeth, &c[?], he is prematurely old.

We therefore certify that in our opinion he is unfit for further service on the Police Force of this Colony.
