Sir,

In reference to the accompanying letter from the Burke Divisional Board I have the honor to report for the information of the Honorable the Colonial Secretary that the work at Burketown does not warrant ~ increasing the strength by one additional constable, a Senior - Constable with a Constable and Tracker are quite enough for all that there is to do. The number of cases heard at Burketown during the last two years is shown in the margins

I have the honor to be Sir Your most obedient Servant.

Divisional Hall Burketown 26.10.93

The Honoble Colonial Secretary Brisbane.

Resolution - Police Protection

Sir

I have the honor, by direction, to advise the adoption of a resolution passed at last General meeting of the Board (21st ulto) as under That the Honble Colonial Secretary be acquainted with the inefficiency of the Police force stationed at Burketown which consists of two Constables only. It being the duty of one to act as lock-up keeper there is only one other whose services are available for Patrol and escort duty thus leaving the Town & greater portion of District entirely unprotected.

Respectfully commending the matter to Your favourable consideration
