Sir,

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18th ult., suggesting, upon the representation of Lieutenant Walker, that the Patrol at present doing duty in the Eastern and more settled portions of the Maranoa District, should be withdrawn, with a view to the augmentation of the Force, indispensable in the recently occupied Country, in the vicinity of the Maranoa River, and I am to inform you that the withdrawal of the patrol, as recommended, is sanctioned and that an outlay, not exceeding Fifty Pounds, as authorized for the erection of the necessary accommodation of the Officer and Troopers at the new Station, it being understood that the expense can be met by funds remaining upon a previous appropriation and unabsorbed.
