Sir,

I have the honor to request that you will make inquiries respecting the circumstances referred to in the accompanying advertisement, and procure a report from the Officer commanding the Detachment in the district in which they are alleged to have occurred, in order that the Government may without delay be made aware what amount of truth there is in the statement bearing the names of Messrs J. & A. Mortimer. -
