Colonial Secretary's Office Brisbane. 3rd June 1862.

Sir,

The residents in the Kennedy District having brought under notice of the Government the insufficient protection afforded by the Native Police detached for duty in that district and it appearing from information afforded by the local Commissioner, that the full complement of men (18 Troopers) belonging to the 5th Division have never been forwarded from Head Quarters, I am directed to state call your immediate attention to the necessity for making arrangements for the early despatch of a sufficient number of Troopers to bring the division up to its proper complement and I am at the same time to state that upon the urgent representations of the residents in the District the Government have decided upon increasing the strength of the division by one subaltern officer and two Troopers making it up to

1 - 1st Lieutenant 1 - 2nd Lt 1 - Cadet 1 - Camp Sergeant and 20 Troopers
